Our client is a leader in providing high performance, next-generation mobile internet solutions seeks an experienced Unix Administrator/ Monitoring.  Our solution is deployed in networks throughout the world, encompassing all aspects of an infrastructure including communications, servers, server software and software applications for mobile devices.  The ideal candidate will have extensive technology and professional skills, be self-motivated, and work well in a fast paced, dynamic environment with an energetic team of individuals.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create and implement monitoring capabilities for all network and Linux elements in the solution
  • Design, install and support network infrastructure and client download technologies including UNIX server installations
  • Participate and contribute in project planning, deployment campaigns and problem resolution with team members
  • Participate in systems tuning and testing operations
  • Produce visual and textual documents utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio programs. 
  • Perform network operation center type activities on a 24x7x365 basis. 

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • 5-10 Years experience in the deployment, management, monitoring, and reporting of high availability systems in a UNIX environment
  • Have developed and integrated monitoring systems used by a TAC or NOC environment
  • EXPERT experience in writing Perl and Shell scripts for UNIX System tasks
  • EXPERT experience with Nagios Network Management System
  • DEEP experience with other Network Management Systems such as AdventNet, NetCrunch, OpenNMS, Solstice, Groundwork, ORCA, or Zenoss
  • DEEP experience with RRD / MRTG / SmokePing
  • DETAILED experience with at least one MIB (host MIB, RMON, vendor-specific MIB)
  • DETAILED Knowledge of SNMP V2/V3 Protocols
  • Knowledge of HTTP, TCP/IP, SSL, and SSH protocols
  • Familiar with Squid Cache, Apache/Tomcat Web Server, and MySQL Database
  • Familiar with Cisco Routers, Switches, and PIX/VPN at CCNA level and experience a plus
  • Firm knowledge of operations involving Linux/Unix, TCP/IP, SMTP, HTTP, Firewalls, High-Availability/Redundancy, and multi-host integration
  • Tasked in monitoring and responding to production system issues outside of normal business hours and on weekends
  • B.S. degree from a four year accredited college:  CS, Telecom, or EE major equivalent
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to multi-task, manage details, and keep sight of overall objectives.
